The North American International Auto Show is a site to be seen around the country, but in the Detroit area it is a chance for the millions of local auto workers that live here to see what they may be producing and take pride in their company's name. Every year in January, the Cobo Center hosts the Detroit version of the Auto show and every year well over a half million people make the trip to the venue to take in the glory. This is a show for everyone, even the little ones. This years event took place from January 19 thru January 27th. It was a week of beauty, style, and concept. If you are a people watcher there is something here for you. If you are a car aficionado this is your dream, and if you are just looking for your next vehicle this is the place to start. Although it is true that bigger vehicles consume more fuel, it doesn't mean they are less fuel efficient. Fuel efficiency is getting the most amount of energy from every amount of fuel that enters the engine. It means that the vehicle is able to make full use of the fuel it gets.

To give you an idea of the depth of the collection, on display is a 1926 Rolls-Royce. Wilbert Grinsven, the curator tells me that there were only two years that Rolls-Royce manufactured cars in the United States. Those years were 1926 and 1927. This car is one of the few Rolls Royce's made here during that time. The auto manufacturer decided that it was not economically feasible to continue manufacturing autos in the US and closed its factory here in the states after only 2 years. And, on top of doing the show, Jay Leno still manages to perform more than 150 standup comedy gigs a year. As my eyeballs came back into focus, I watched him unfold the same pocket knife and as he bent to retrieve another chile from the plant, I prayed it wasn't for me. Realizing it wasn't I thanked the great capsicum god in the Hatch volcano and considered crying. Every year when my wife and I filed our taxes some things from MY past (not hers) would creep up. For drivers who typically should drive a great deal of miles each and every year then this diesel it's still more affordable than its petrol equivalent. In the local automotive arena, decline in gas prices seem to benefit GM most. The automaker's truck sales surged by 32.9 percent. DaimlerChrysler truck sales were up by 11.1 percent. Jeep and Dodge received most of the gains. Jeep auto parts are proving what they are worth in Liberty and Commando. Consequently, Dodge truck parts are still preferred by many truck enthusiasts.
