Armed with a year of experience working
with the Honda Civic Si and a veteran team of drivers, RSR Motorsports
hopes to start the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season
by doing something they have never done before: win at Daytona.
The world has changed a lot. Most people
don't know the names of all the cars on the market. Two cars in a family
is common. People are busy and don't want to take the time to shop for
that perfect car. Families with kids want SUV's. Everyone wants energy
efficiency. Instead of asking how much horse power, people are asking
how many miles per gallon.
To give
you an idea of the depth of the collection, on display is a 1926
Rolls-Royce. Wilbert Grinsven, the curator tells me that there were only
two years that Rolls-Royce manufactured cars in the United States. Those
years were 1926 and 1927. This car is one of the few Rolls Royce's made
here during that time. The auto manufacturer decided that it was not
economically feasible to continue manufacturing autos in the US and
closed its factory here in the states after only 2 years. Another
example of a beautiful old car is a car used in the movie "Driving Miss
Daisy". http://www.wikihow.com/Diagnose-a-Loss-of-Spark-in-Your-Car-Engine
I should always watch what I say
because with the PC their could be a small child on here collecting
those hunting stories like I collected them from my grandfather.
Although the word bullshit was one of those sacred words as a kid you
used to say just out of ear shot of mom and dad. It had it's own
mystique about it altogether back then. But, yes, you do have to shell
out some cash to be part of this whole event. There are several packages
available. One would be the dinner and dance package which would cost
you $60. With this one, you get to join those others with the same
package have dinner at 7:30 p.m. at the museum's Willennar Hall. You
would be able to enjoy dancing, dinner, the cash bar, and a champagne
toast come midnight.
But there
is certainly good news for those who just have no idea where to
celebrate the holidays. You see, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum is
actually inviting everybody for a big event. The event is to actually
celebrate the arrival of the new year, 2007. Come the last day of this
year, 31st of December, there would be a celebration and an event which
the museum dubbed as "A Classic New Year's Eve". No, the museum is not
going to give away some of their cars or even some of the Custom
buy quadrasteer truck parts at the very least. It is perhaps a way
of saying thank you to all those auto lovers and to all of the public
who has wholeheartedly supported the auto museum through the year. To digress a bit, I need to tell you that Sgt. Grace lied. First,
the language I was assigned to study was Vietnamese. Second, after going
through the 101st Airborne Division's jungle combat school in Phan Rang,
I was assigned to the 1st Brigade, a reactionary unit. I joined them in
Dak To, and early the next morning was flown out to join an artillery
battery in what was called "Operation Eagle Bait". Didn't take long to
find out we were the bait, and Charlie was the eagle. The objective was
to tempt the Viet Cong into attacking us, then bring in an assault wave
of Huey's loaded with infantry, and wipe the enemy out. What I quickly
discovered is that there is nothing in the world comparable to the first
night you are brought out of a deep sleep by M-60 machine gun fire. I know that $20,900 is a goodly sum of money, but in 13 years we
more than doubled our money. And that is looking at just the financial
aspect of it. The many wonderful hours we had working on something
together that we both love, you can't even put a price tag on
that. In October, the U.S. State Department released a the results of a
survey of 220 U.S. private companies which showed 15 percent of them
have postponed investments or expansion plans in Mexico due to the drug
violence now paralyzing that country.
