On tonight's episode of "Undercover Boss" on
CBS, president and CEO Andy Wirth gets a makeover and goes undercover to
Lake Tahoe, Calif. The Squaw Valley mountain is famous for hosting the
1960 Winter Olympics and the epicenter of big mountain skiing. Alpine
Meadows offers a family-friendly atmosphere with excellent snow sports
for the entire family. The founder of the empire was Conrad Wirth,
Andy's grandfather, who was the Director of the National Parks Services
for eleven years. When Andy took over, he purchased Alpine Meadows to
give the two resorts a more family-friendly atmosphere, where Squaw
Valley mainly catered to the expert skiers.
What would be part of the celebration? Well there would be music for
dancing from the Big Band which is sponsored by ITT Conglomerates. Of
course, there would be food, party favors, and a chance to meet and
greet other car lovers (and even lonely souls who had nowhere to go on
New Year's eve).
Sometimes it is (1) attorney, sometimes it is (2) attorneys and
sometimes it involves the Judge. In this particular case, here is poor
little "Linda" getting a divorce from "Outdoor Bob". Prior to their
marriage, Linda had perfect credit and Outdoor Bob, being a rascal, had
ziltch for credit. Linda was told by Mom and Dad, don't marry that bum.
Well, love prevailed and they got married.

Tom Dyer is returning to RSR Motorsports, as
well, and he will be co-driving with Andrew Novich in the No. 196 Honda.
As the sole newcomer to the team, Novich is looking forward to
benefitting from the knowledge of his teammates. He now takes a look about
the area, it is not the house, it is the top of tress by the lake; --the
shadows are forming the likes of a house. As he catches his breath, they
continue forward.
I had just started on another beer when someone dropped a few
coins in the juke box. The music was bad country. To my utter disgust
the first song that played was that "I want to stick a boot up your
butt" super-patriotic, ultra-jingoist thing by the guy in the
buy truck mud flaps commercials. The people around me began to sing
along loudly. Now, let's look at an example of how to negotiate a deal, any time.
Let's pretend (or maybe not) that you're one of the estimated five per
cent who are unemployed in the United States. You've done your homework;
written up a killer resume, and now you have some interviews lined
up. I'd finally made it, I thought. A step closer to bottling our
green chile sauce, a cooking sauce resplendent with flavor and I could
envision a bottle on every table in America. I just needed the right
chile. Remember: be
prepared, have an agenda and keep focused on the discussion at hand.
Involve everyone from partners to associates to staff and keep an open
mind to marketing ideas, plans and needs. But most of all... make it a
true priority to institute those strategies when the retreat
ends.
