The North American International Auto Show is a site to be seen around the country, but in the Detroit area it is a chance for the millions of local auto workers that live here to see what they may be producing and take pride in their company's name. Every year in January, the Cobo Center hosts the Detroit version of the Auto show and every year well over a half million people make the trip to the venue to take in the glory. This is a show for everyone, even the little ones. This years event took place from January 19 thru January 27th. It was a week of beauty, style, and concept. If you are a people watcher there is something here for you. If you are a car aficionado this is your dream, and if you are just looking for your next vehicle this is the place to start. Other people will try to bully, or force, you into taking the deal they're offering you. Stand firm and don't give into their pressured tactics either.

To give you an idea of the depth of the collection, on display is a 1926 Rolls-Royce. Wilbert Grinsven, the curator tells me that there were only two years that Rolls-Royce manufactured cars in the United States. Those years were 1926 and 1927. This car is one of the few Rolls Royce's made here during that time. The auto manufacturer decided that it was not economically feasible to continue manufacturing autos in the US and closed its factory here in the states after only 2 years. As the sole newcomer to the team, Novich is looking forward to benefitting from the knowledge of his teammates. Since Jay Leno took over the hosting duties at "The Tonight Show", he has earned another nickname-"The King of Late Night." So, how much money does the king earn? Another little known fact about Jay Leno is that his annual salary is reported to be a cool $17,000,000, according to Forbes. There were three major car manufacturers. Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. Each manufacture had a following. Arguments could erupt over which car was the best. A man's Dodge pickup was a source of pride. Sunday morning the family would dress in their best clothes and get into a Buick for the trip to church. The Cadillac represented power and money while the Ford and Chevrolet represented the working people. People that lived in the country had a buy truck winch. It was a working truck and on Saturday's the kids jumped in the back for a trip to town. Well, since that was the only plan the three of us were able to come up with that whole evening, I figured it was destiny. There really wasn't anything else going on in my life so as dawn arrived we headed for the Army recruiting office. There were, of course, some tests for me to take. When I came back it was just out of the guilt that I had. I pride myself on my professionalism, and this is the first issue I've ever had where I wasn't able to come to set ... In October, the U.S. State Department released a the results of a survey of 220 U.S. private companies which showed 15 percent of them have postponed investments or expansion plans in Mexico due to the drug violence now paralyzing that country.
