The North American International Auto Show is a site to be seen around the country, but in the Detroit area it is a chance for the millions of local auto workers that live here to see what they may be producing and take pride in their company's name. Every year in January, the Cobo Center hosts the Detroit version of the Auto show and every year well over a half million people make the trip to the venue to take in the glory. This is a show for everyone, even the little ones. This years event took place from January 19 thru January 27th. It was a week of beauty, style, and concept. If you are a people watcher there is something here for you. If you are a car aficionado this is your dream, and if you are just looking for your next vehicle this is the place to start. What would be part of the celebration? Well there would be music for dancing from the Big Band which is sponsored by ITT Conglomerates. Of course, there would be food, party favors, and a chance to meet and greet other car lovers (and even lonely souls who had nowhere to go on New Year's eve).

To give you an idea of the depth of the collection, on display is a 1926 Rolls-Royce. Wilbert Grinsven, the curator tells me that there were only two years that Rolls-Royce manufactured cars in the United States. Those years were 1926 and 1927. This car is one of the few Rolls Royce's made here during that time. The auto manufacturer decided that it was not economically feasible to continue manufacturing autos in the US and closed its factory here in the states after only 2 years. The brick on the face of the building, and the white wooden door outside, were nearly black from years of soot from the coke plant and steel mills. Patrons tended to be older folks who spent what was left of their paychecks on booze, Polish sausages, hard-boiled eggs, and illegal tip boards. The taller man at the wheel, his arms are solid, and frozen to the wheel, is called Amery, for some reason you know he knows that. Linda moved to Florida and got a job as a, school teacher, here in the area. She wanted to buy a house so that the kids could have a home. Lo and behold! She gets a notice that Ford Motor Credit is suing her for the deficiency balance on the buy truck auto accessories that they repossessed from Outdoor Bob. The deficiency was over $5,500.00 Even though the Judge instructed Bob to make the payments, he didn't. The judge never thought to check with Ford Motor Credit to see if they would accept Outdoor Bob as the new guarantor on the loan. They of course wouldn't have done it anyway. After all, Bob's credit was terrible. With the weather here in Utah dropping below zero degrees, it is crucial to fill your windshield washer fluids with a non-freezing component. Perhaps you might drain a bit of the mix from your radiator and fill it with strictly antifreeze. Check the distilled water level around your battery; it should cover the lead plates. Secure battery cables to ensure they are tight. Clean all terminals. There is also a corrosion prevention spray you can buy for your battery terminal. If there is a puddle of something leaking underneath you car, be sure to find out what it is and find a solution rapidly. A couple of guys that had graduated from high school with me picked me up at the end of my afternoon shift, and we went drinking in Lorain.
